Well we’re back from Blog Wars and I feel that a great time was had by all, I really want to thank Alex for his hard work organising the tournament and the guys at Maelstrom Games for supplying (as always) a great venue.

I really want to thank all my opponents on the day, I had some really fun games and while I may not have won (Nearly! but I’ll explain that on the battle reports later this week) myself and Adam went in the spirit of this being a friendly tournament and played in the spirit of the game. Kudos to the guys who also came and played in the spirit of the game and didn’t go all out competitive in a bid to win.

So I think it’s safe to say that the Paladin Wing let by Draigo was the surprise of the tournament for the majority of people…couldn’t quite get over the number of people saying things along the lines of “21 models…good luck” or “That’s the smallest list in the tournament” however the proof is in the pudding and as you can see in the standings I just pipped Adam from the Space Wolves blog to the post with 2 wins and a loss to his win and 2 draws.

I’m really impressed with how the Paladins played and held their own against my opponents, I definitely think the low model count sucked some people into believing that the army would be quite a walk over to take out though which was definitely an advantage this army conveys.

Considering before the tournament I had only played 3 games with the Paladins I don’t feel that I had done anything drastically wrong with regards to tactics and perhaps with further practice (and further battle reports for you guys) this list going to perhaps become an even tougher force for people to face…

Evening guys, Firstly I just want to apologise for the lack of posting on the blog this week, this was due to a technical issue which has been corrected by my fist meeting with the crappy modem! Anyway I really want to welcome all the new followers here to Titan and just hope that you enjoy reading the blog as much as I enjoy writing it…Now I’m sure you’re all wondering how I got on in the Blog Wars Challenge, well here are some pictures to show you:

So as you can see not quite 100% complete but considering the amount I had to build paint and magnetise I think I did pretty well…luckily for me so has Adam from the Space Wolves blog has agreed and kept the beer flowing this evening!

Anyway myself and Adam have come to Blog Wars a day early to go to Warhammer land and hopefully meet up with a few of our fellow bloggers for a few casual games before tomorrow…unfortunately we saw no1 who we recognised so rather than waste our afternoon we had a little re-match between ourselves…

So how did the Space Wolves fare this time?? well starting Monday it will  be battle report week here on Grey Knights of Titan so stay tuned here for a week of battle reports from my matches at blog wars and some friendly ones against James and Adam to boot.

That’s about all for this evening so I’ll let you all know how we get on and get the battle reports coming so expect a packed week to make up for the lack of posts over the last few days…

Ok guys so it’s a little over a week since I told you all about the Blog Wars Challenge and so I thought I’d give you a worth while update…

I’ve decided 100% on the list I’m going to run at 1750pts:

Kaldor Draigo

10 Grey Knight Paladins
Apothecary with Power Sword
Standard Bearer with Psycanon
2x Power Sword
Power Sword with Psycanon
Halberd
Master Crafted Halberd
Halberd with Psycanon
Daemonhammer
Daemonhammer with Psycanon

10 Grey Knight Paladins
Apothecary with Power Sword
Standard Bearer with Psycanon
2x Power Sword
Power Sword with Psycanon
Halberd
Master Crafted Halberd
Halberd with Psycanon
Daemonhammer
Daemonhammer with Psycanon

Now this is slightly tweaked from my Blog Wars Challenge Army List post but I really needed to maximise on the Psycanons that were available to the Paladins whilst still keeping the Wound Allocation competitive…This is a much smaller list than most of the other armies I expect to come across at the tournament but I believe that this list does have the ability to compete!

As you can see Grey Knight Terminators have arrived and to keep my options open in future I’ve magnetised all of the hands with a view to completing magnetising them after Blog Wars. Also just to make life easier (and at the same time more difficult!) I’m making some wound allocation markers that are magnetised to the base.

Anyway there is a little check in just for now and I’ll have some more pictures and some painting tutorials in the near future for the Grey Knights.

So I’ve been putting a lot of thought in to how I can create a fluffy yet competitive 1750pt army list in time for Blog Wars, I’ve already decided it will be Grey Knight Terminator based but should I go pure terminators or should I throw in some of the juicy Grey Knight wargear?

Here are my 3 main contenders for a possible list…

LIST 1:

Kaldor Draigo.
10 Paladins.
Apothecary, 2x Nemesis Force Falchions, 2x Nemesis Force Halberd, 1x Nemesis Daemon Hammer, 1x Master Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer, 1x Nemesis Force Sword, 1x Master Crafted Nemesis Force Sword, 1x Psycanon, 1x Master Crafted Psycanon, Brotherhood Banner, Psybolt ammunition.
10 Paladins.
Apothecary, 2x Nemesis Force Falchions, 2x Nemesis Force Halberd, 1x Nemesis Daemon Hammer, 1x Master Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer, 1x Nemesis Force Sword, 1x Master Crafted Nemesis Force Sword, 1x Psycanon, 1x Master Crafted Psycanon, Brotherhood Banner, Psybolt ammunition.
Total: 1745pts.

So a ‘Draigowing’ army footslogging across the board with maximised wound allocation…This list give me the potential to allocate 23 wounds without losing a single model and with only 3 killpoints available to my opponent could prove quite taxing to my opponent. However, Grey Knight Paladins aren’t fearless and so a nasty shooting phase could potentially leave me with next to no army fleeing for the board edge by as soon as turn 2.

LIST 2:

Grey Knight Grand Master.
Grey Knight Librarian.
Might of Titan, Quicksilver, The Shrouding.
5 Terminators.
Psycanon, Psybolts.
10 Terminators.
2x Psycanons, 2x Nemesis Force Falchions, Brotherhood Banner.
10 Terminators.
2x Psycanons, 2x Nemesis Force Falchions, Brotherhood Banner.
Vindicare Assassin.
Total: 1750pts.

Ok so more models and a Librarian giving me some psychic support makes this list more focused on getting into close combat with an opponent and using Might of Titan with Quicksilver or Hammerhand to maximise the squads close combat ability. The downfall with this list is relying on the fragile Vindicare Assassin to take out any troublesome units (Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield Combination anyone?) and high armour vehicles, couple that with each model (barring the Grand Master and the Librarian) only having 1 wound and and my opponent can more easily cause the same scenario to occur as in list 1…

LIST 3:

Grand Master Vorth Mordrak.
5 Ghost Knights.
Librarian.
The Summoning, The Shrouding, Might Of Titan.
5x Terminators.
Psycanon
5x Terminators.
Psycanon
Stormraven Gunship.
Land Raider Redeemer.
Warp Stabilisation Field, Psyflame Ammunition.
Land Raider Redeemer.
Warp Stabilisation Field, Psyflame Ammunition.
Total: 1750pts.

This is an example of a heavily mechanised list which utilises the speed of the Stormraven with the Librarians ‘The Summoning’ power to deliver you Raiders onto your enemy’s doorstep. The weakness of this army is that should the Stormraven arrive late then the Land Raiders have the potential to be popped and leave me footslogging with less troops with the previous 2 lists, therefore I’m discounting this list but thought it would be nice to show you a train of thought…

LIST 4:

Grey Knight Grand Master.
10 Terminators.
2x Falchions, 2x Psycanons, Brotherhood Banner, Psybolt Ammunition.
Justicar Thawn.
9 Terminators.
2x Falchions, 2x Psycanons, Brotherhood Banner, Psybolt Ammunition.
Nemesis Dreadknight.
Personal Teleporter, Heavy Psycanon.
Nemesis Dreadknight.
Personal Teleporter, Heavy Psycanon.
Total: 1750pts

Finally on our list is a mixture of footslogging and mechanised Grey Knights, this time I would use the Grand Master’s Grand strategy perk to make sure the Dreadknights are always on the enemy’s mind, with a 24″ charge range and the 30″ shunt movement coupled with my ability to make them either out flanking or or scoring this means that for most games.

Conclusion:
So there we have it 4 lists I feel I can have ready for Blog Wars…I’m not fully decided between lists 1, 3 and 4 but as I said before I’m discounting the second list down to the sheer lack of troops and lack of long range firepower, therefore I’m going to concentrate on building, painting and magnetising my Terminators along with trying to get 2 Nemesis Dreadknights and my Draigo model painted to maximise my options where these lists are concerned, hope you guys are as excited as I am about getting going…stay tuned for more!!!

Ok guys, I’m sure many of you know Adam from the Space Wolves Blog…well a challenge (or gentleman’s wager) has been issued by him for me to get my Grey Knights army built and painted into a 1750pt army in time for Blog Wars on June 5th.

This Gives me just under 3 weeks to turn at least 6 boxes of Grey Knight Terminators (that’s what I have at the moment…more to order once I’ve finalised my army list) into a playable army. At the moment I have 1 squad built and magnetised, however this still leaves me a minimum of 25 Terminators left to build and magnetise then paining all 30 and that doesn’t even include my HQ choices etc!!

Was this a foolhardy wager to accept…er probably but Adam is a man of his word and I want to be kept in beer for the weekend so I’ve got to at least attempt it!

Now you guys I promise won’t be neglected over the next 3 weeks, in fact I hope that you’re going to come along for the ride as I post as much as I can about the Blog Wars Challenge regarding my army list selection, unit building, paint schemes and magnetising of my Grey Knights right up to their completion on June 4th…I hope.

Anyway readers wish me luck and hopefully you enjoy reading the Blog Wars Challenge posts as I enjoy the beer when I complete it…after all failure is not an option…!
